Gardening has incredibly positive effects on our mind and psychological state? Not only does it help us slow down and enter an almost meditative state, but it helps us with something more transcendental to our lives: mental growth.
Growing mentality is not only about being positive and drawing goals to achieve them. It requires patience to see a project grow and prosper. This happens specifically because mental growth is linked to hard work and effort. These are two of the most remarkable values that both schools and parents have a hard time teaching. That's why we are advocates of getting not only yourself but your children out in the garden. Mother nature, truly is our best teacher!
Those are qualities that you will learn by practicing gardening. Planting is a continuous effort, a daily challenge that demands commitment and an open mind that’s willing to fail and try again. Keeping an open mind is key when gardening and for any other activity, that’s the only way you will learn and adapt to improve.
Eventually what you practice in the garden will bleed through in your day to day life and allow us to have more patience with ourselves in stressful situations, allow us to adapt and grow easier to changes in our life, etc. For these reasons, we feel gardening is a great activity for not just your health, but for your mind and body.
